The Brand OMEGA was used first time for Knives and other Steel-ware Products 1898 in Solingen / Germany from Joseph Feist.
STEEL GOODS WITH TRADITION: OMEGA SINCE 1898
Solingen on the Wupper: the town has always been deeply rooted in the knife and blade-making trade. The construction
of so-called water-powered grinding mills benefitted from its location directly on the mountain river as
long ago as the Middle Ages and the manufacture of sharp blades can be traced back to the beginning of the 13th
century. The newly arrived Joseph Feist picked up the traditions and the high-quality handicraft around 1860 when
he founded a steel goods business together with his brother Abraham.
Joseph eventually founded the firm of Joseph Feist in 1880, better known to the majority of customers and experts
as the OMEGA works. Because even before the official foundation, the company logo bore the typical symbol: Ω,
the last letter of the Greek alphabet, stands metaphorically for perfection.
